We like to be involved in all the visual and construction aspects of a project from concept to completion, including the design of bespoke furniture, lighting, signage, styling and art direction. We can, however, take as much or as little involvement as the project demands.

• Feasability and analysis (briefing, concept research and development, review of existing facilities / buildings, strategic layout options)
• Concept design and presentations (sketch plans, computer generated or hand drawn 3D visuals, mood and sample boards)
• Statutory approvals (planning / listed building consent; building warrant; license drawings)
• Detailed tender and construction information (plans and details, specifications and schedules, cost management and value engineering – with QS)
• Selection and procurement of client direct items / FF+E (Furniture, Fixtures + Equipment) (proposals for and ordering – on the client’s behalf – of items like furniture, lighting, artwork, etc)
• Contract administration to completion (act as client’s agent, administration of standard construction contracts, site meetings, monitoring quality and implementation, snagging)
• Post completion review (review project with client, ‘as built’ information, defects)

Surface can either take on the duties of lead designer in a project team or work alongside other designers, engineers, managers and consultants to provide a role that suits the client’s needs.
